Inspired by queer avant-garde artist, activist and filmmaker, Jarman (all this maddening beauty) invades the mind and artistic aesthetic of Derek Jarman (The Last of England, Sebastiane, The Tempest) to create a poetic and visually dynamic mash-up of video and live performance. DANCE CONSORTIUM Presents COMPAGNIE KAFIG in UK Tour Today

Paris-based Compagnie Käfig will visit the UK in 2014, with a nationwide tour from today, 25 March to 18 April and two national press nights in Milton Keynes today 25 and Wednesday 26 March. In the past 17 years, Compagnie Käfig has given over 2200 performances in 61 countries in front of more than 1 million people. However, they rarely perform in the UK, and this is rare and special visit is by the kind invitation of Dance Consortium. (more...)

Kentish producers are invited to take part in a unique market set up by The Marlowe Theatre. Local businesses can apply for a stall outside the theatre in April as part of The Garden Of England. This community project will bring together people from the area to explore what it means to live in Kent. Members of The Marlowe's creative classes will perform in and around the theatre, and a vital part of the performances look at the county's rich but controversial history of agricultural production. Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego to Open New Tim Youd Exhibition on 5/17

Artist Tim Youd, as part of his ongoing critically acclaimed undertaking to retype 100 classic novels, will be retyping all seven of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe novels. Through Marlowe, the quintessential hard boiled detective, Chandler both defined and transcended the detective fiction genre. Youd's Chandler Cycle will culminate in a solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) in La Jolla. The show opens to the public on Saturday, May 17, 2014 and runs through August 31, 2014. (more...)

Following a break of six years, Band of Gold star Cathy Tyson returns to the stage this Spring in Sarah Naomi Lee's bitter sweet black hair salon drama Snakes and Ladders. The Liverpudlian, who shot to fame starring alongside Bob Hoskins in the 1986 feature film Mona Lisa, put her successful acting career on hold a four years ago to take on the very different role as a mature English student at Brunel University.
