There will be performances from the National Theatre (War Horse), the Royal Shakespeare Company (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Northern Ballet (Jane Eyre), and Zoo Nation Youth Company. Also in the line up are the Philharmonia, The Marlowe's resident orchestra, poet Lemn Sissay, and scenes from West End musicals (to be announced). BWW Interview: Director Maria Aberg on DOCTOR FAUSTUS

Swedish director Maria Aberg came to the UK to study at Mountview aged 20. She's since become a bold force in British theatre, with work ranging from Hotel at the National Theatre and Wildefire at the Hampstead to numerous productions for the RSC. Her most recent, Marlowe's Doctor Faustus, features lead actors Sandy Grierson and Oliver Ryan sharing the roles of Faustus and Mephistopheles, deciding on the night who plays which by striking matches. The production transfers to the Barbican next month as part of the RSC's London Season. (more...)

East Lynne Theatre Company Presents ASL Performance of DRACULA 8/26

On Friday, August 26 at 8:30 p.m., there will be an American Sign Language Interpretation of 'Dracula' produced by the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company. Since the early 1990s, ELTC has offered regularly scheduled ASL performances, as well as ASL performances upon request. The theatrical ASL interpreters are Gina Lanza, who has performed many times for ELTC, and Amy Anderson, who teaches ASL at Ocean City High School. The process involves them seeing the production at least once, plus going over the script several times to figure out who will interpret which roles, and in many cases, developing signs unique to the production for unusual names and words. The ASL interpreters do not distract audience members who do not require this service.   (more...)
