Cast Announced for Steppenwolf's THE FUNDAMENTALS

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the complete cast for Erika Sheffer's The Fundamentals, a smart and searing look at America's corporate culture through the story of a Manhattan hotel maid with higher aspirations. Directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov, the cast features ensemble members Alana Arenas (Millie), Caroline Neff (Stellan) and Alan Wilder (Abe) with Audrey Francis(Eliza) and Armando Riesco (Lorenzo). Peyankov and Sheffer last collaborated on Steppenwolf's 2014 Chicago premiere of Russian Transport, which also featured ensemble member Alan Wilder. Previews begin November 10, 2016 and the show runs through December 23, 2016 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N Halsted.Single tickets ($20 - $89) go on sale Friday, August 5 at 11am. 2016/17 season subscriptions and memberships are currently on sale through Audience Services at 312-335-1650 or steppenwolf.org. Swedish director Maria Aberg came to the UK to study at Mountview aged 20. She's since become a bold force in British theatre, with work ranging from Hotel at the National Theatre and Wildefire at the Hampstead to numerous productions for the RSC. Her most recent, Marlowe's Doctor Faustus, features lead actors Sandy Grierson and Oliver Ryan sharing the roles of Faustus and Mephistopheles, deciding on the night who plays which by striking matches. East Lynne Theatre Company Presents ASL Performance of DRACULA 8/26

On Friday, August 26 at 8:30 p.m., there will be an American Sign Language Interpretation of 'Dracula' produced by the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company. Since the early 1990s, ELTC has offered regularly scheduled ASL performances, as well as ASL performances upon request. The theatrical ASL interpreters are Gina Lanza, who has performed many times for ELTC, and Amy Anderson, who teaches ASL at Ocean City High School. The process involves them seeing the production at least once, plus going over the script several times to figure out who will interpret which roles, and in many cases, developing signs unique to the production for unusual names and words. The ASL interpreters do not distract audience members who do not require this service.   (more...)
