BWW Review: Lindsay Crouse Enlivens LETTICE AND LOVAGE at Gloucester Stage Company
by Nancy Grossman - May 30, 2016

Gloucester Stage Company opens its 37th season with LETTICE AND LOVAGE as a star vehicle for Academy Award-nominated Gloucester resident Lindsay Crouse. Written by Peter Shaffer (EQUUS, AMADEUS) for beloved British actress Dame Maggie Smith, Crouse takes on the title role of tour guide Lettice Douffet and makes it her own with panache and good humor. Marya Lowry is her incredulous employer Lotte Schoen and together they raise the bar for the art of verbal sparring. The esteemed scene partners feast on Shaffer's rich language and throw themselves into the theatrical shenanigans of the play, with supporting silliness well-represented by Janelle Mills and Mark Cohen. Miranda N. Prather Attends Book Signing in Baltimore
by BWW News Desk - May 23, 2016

Miranda N. Prather, author of 'Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape,' attended a book signing at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 20, 2016. The signing was a huge success with numerous sales and interest in the true life story of a super hero ex-race horse. The day featured top level thoroughbred racing that saw Go Maggie Go victorious in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and Maryland favorite and warrior horse, Ben's Cat winning his 5th Jim McKay Turf Sprint at age 10. Also in attendance were Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue and Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance which offer options for Thoroughbreds when their racing days are over. 'Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape,' published by Shoofly View, tells the life story of a blue-collar racehorse who overcame a devastating illness to survive and inspire thousands around the globe who were facing their own struggles. The book features playful writing and delightful pictures, by Kentucky artist Hayley Mullins, that bring the tale of Blue Blue Sea to life. Miranda N. Prather was born in Texas and grew up in Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky. The first horse she recalls following was Seattle Slew, who was born the same year she was, but it was Alydar that was her first horse racing love (and Blue Blue Sea's great-grandsire). During her time in Kentucky, she took horseback riding lessons and owned an off-track Thoroughbred named Beble. Hayley Mullins resides in Erlanger, Kentucky, where she is a high school senior at Heritage Academy. She is a self-taught artist, who is gaining a following due to her natural talent for catching a subject in whimsical ways. Upon graduation, the illustrator plans to attend Lipscomb University and study Visual Development and Animation. Opening in 1870, Pimlico Race Course is the second oldest track in the United States. The track has long been home to some of the finest Thoroughbred racing seen in the world and is home to the second jewel of racing's Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes. Alfred G. Vanderbilt once said of the storied track, 'Pimlico is more than a dirt track bounded by four streets. It is an accepted American institution, devoted to the best interests of a great sport, graced by time, respected for its honorable past.' Shoofly View seeks to give authors honest feedback, and if an author presents a well-written, interesting book, the chance at publication. In late 2015, they published 'Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape,' their first book. They are currently looking at other book projects and plan an online journal to highlight the best in writing, art and photography. (more...)
