Conflict resolution is at the center of Matrix School of Theatre's spring show, The Art Project. Written by Gabrielle Clayton and directed by Emilio Rodriguez, the story focuses on what takes place as five young students who don't get along, are forced to work together on an art project. Performances run Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30 at 7 pm, and Sunday, May 31 at 3 pm. (more...)

Flat Rock Playhouse announced today that they have been chosen by the new musical Chasing Rainbows: The Road to Oz to be the Developmental House for its world premiere.  Conceived and produced by New York City based producer Tina Marie Casamento Libby, Chasing Rainbows: The Road to Oz is a Broadway bound musical that chronicles the life of a young Judy Garland and explores the extraordinary journey to stardom that culminated in one of the most popular films of all time, The Wizard of Oz.  Developed at Goodspeed Musicals Johnny Mercer Colony In Connecticut, a NYC table read and a thirteen day developmental workshop at Belmont University in Nashville soon followed. A very successful AEA Staged Reading of this musical was also produced at New World Stages in New York City in September 2014.  After the Flat Rock Playhouse production, Chasing Rainbows: The Road to Oz will then transfer to another leading regional theatre for a pre-Broadway try out before its New York City bow.  (more...)

This is Modern Art represents the true story of Chicago graffiti crew MUL, depicting the events leading up to and following their decision to carry out the biggest graffiti bomb of their career on the modern wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dan Lauria, the revered actor and now author of the new play DINNER WITH THE BOYS -- to be given its Off-Broadway debut this spring at the Acorn Theatre on Theater Row (410 W. 42 St.) -- will be recognized for his contributions to television and athletics: on Friday, April 10 he will receive the Distinguished American Award from the New Haven County Chapter of the National Football Foundation In Connecticut, and the beloved television series, THE WONDER YEARS in which Mr. Lauria starred for several years, will be honored with a special award on this week's TV Land Awards. Minneapolis Musical Theatre (MMT) concludes its 2014-2015 season with Happy Days-A New Musical making its area premiere April 24-May 17, 2015 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre. Based on the hit ABC television show "Happy Days," the musical features a book by the series' original creator Garry Marshall, with music and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winner Paul Williams.
