Announcing TREADWLL GOLD: A New Play Based on the Book by Sheila Kelly

In one momentous year, as infrastructure crumbles, fires rage, and war looms, young engineer George Barnett arrives in the territory of Alaska with "guts and genius," not expecting to fall in love or carry the safety of the miners and the town on his shoulders. Treadwell Gold is written by Rachel Atkins and inspired by the book of historical nonfiction by Sheila Kelly. The play is based on real people and events. Treadwell Gold takes us to a time when science and engineering were looked to with faith that progress was always an option and engineering could always make our lives better. Blue Star Award Winners Announced at Starlight Theatre

For the 15th consecutive year, Starlight Theatre has publicly applauded the outstanding achievements and talents of local high school musical theatre students. Last night's 2017 Blue Star Awards Ceremony gave hundreds of area teens an opportunity to perform musical numbers on Starlight's Cohen Community Stage while their teachers, peers, parents and others cheered them from the seats. Brooke and Chad Are… JUST AS GAY AS YOU

Cabaret Artists Chad M. Ryan and Brooke M. Haney's first collaborative endeavor, Brooke and Chad Are… Just as Gay as You. (A Queer Cabaret of Chaos and Clarity), premieres this year during Pride Week on Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30 pm at the Duplex. Created by Haney and Ryan from their combined personal "GAY" experiences, the show explores the themes of queerness and identity and the unlikely friendship between a Gay man and a Queer woman, all under their shared love of music and storytelling. Filled with chaotic  humour, truth telling vulnerability and occasional crisp clarity, the evening is sure to be a 'gay ol time.'  The duo has also partnered with Shining Hope for Communities to raise money and build awareness for Margaret's Safe Place, a project of Shining Hope. To that end, a portion of the proceeds from every ticket will go to support Shining Hope. (more...)
