THE LAST 5 YEARS, Richard LaGravenese's (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA) big screen adaptation of the 2002 Off-Broadway musical by Tony Award winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown, just premiered yesterday at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, and Broadway favorite Jeremy Jordan was there for the big event. Jordan, who is currently starring in the Broadway-bound production of FINDING NEVERLAND at the American Repertory Theatre, made the trek from Boston to Toronto after yesterday's matinee to attend the premiere, according to Deadline. He will return to the A.R.T. in time for Tuesday night's performance. (more...)

According to the New York Times, despite the legendary comedienne's stage credits, the lights of Broadway will not dim in memory of Joan Rivers. Broadway League executive director Charlotte St. Martin told NYT: "Under our criteria people need to have been very active recently in the theater, or else be synonymous with Broadway - people who made their careers here, or kept it up.' Paper Mill Playhouse will open its 2014-2015 season with a Broadway-bound, world-class revival of Can-Can starring Kate Baldwin as Pistache and Jason Danieley as Aristide. This fresh new production features direction by David Lee (Frasier, Cheers) and choreography by Patti Colombo (Paper Mill's Peter Pan, On the Town, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers). The show features a book by Abe Burrows (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) and a re-crafted script by Joel Fields (Ugly Betty, The Americans) andDavid Lee. Can-Can's score features some of Cole Porter's timeless classics including 'I Love Paris,' 'C'est Magnifique,' 'It's All Right With Me' and more. Paper Mill Playhouse is launching this Broadway-bound production of Cole Porter's classic musical with producing partner Jonathan Burrows. Can-Can will play the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from October 1 through October 26, 2014. "I really, really miss high school theatre." This was the first thought I had as I entered, sat and watched, and exited McCallum Fine Arts Academy' production of The Producers. Because I first-handedly know how much work- and how much fun- it is to spend countless hours rehearsing (need to interject that these dedicated students spent their summer rehearsing for this show), running the show countless times, and making several costume and set changes, showstopping numbers, and putting on a beloved Broadway musical on their high school stage look easy. MCC THEATER has announced that the world premiere of MCC Playwright-in-Residence Neil LaBute's new play, The Money Shot, directed by Terry Kinney, has been extended due to popular demand now through October 19, 2014. The production was originally scheduled to close on October 12, 2014. The Money Shot stars Emmy Award nominee Elizabeth Reaser, Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne, Frederick Weller and Gia Crovatin.
