Made in Colchester Announces their Casting for MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Mercury Theatre Colchester has announced the casting line-up for their Made in Colchester production of Shakespeare's comic battle of the sexes, Much Ado About Nothing. I remember studying Abigail's Party in school and watching the 1977 television Play For Today version, based on the original Hampstead Theatre production. The dialogue is colloquial and there is nothing complex about the content. It is a situational drama crammed full of every day occurrences, stressing on the naturalness of conversation e.g. awkward pauses, of which there is a lot of them! The characters and strength of the acting ensure the success of the writing and those involved in the Curve's latest production do just that. (more...)

Jeremy Swift will play Mr Perks and Caroline Harker will be recreating the role of Mother in the Olivier Award-winning production of Mike Kenny's stage adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel The Railway Children when it returns to London on 16 December 2014 in its new home, the King's Cross Theatre. The production will transfer to the St. James Theatre from Tuesday 2 July to Saturday 10 August 2013, with press night on Monday 8 July at 7pm. The production received its UK premiere earlier this year at the Ustinov Studio, Bath. An intensely naturalistic and darkly comic portrait of gloom and joy, violence and romance, Ecstasy is the story of six sharply drawn characters and their struggle against despair one evening in a run-down London flat. The production stars Boyd Harris, Maura Kidwell, Layne Manzer, Lauren Pizzi, Michaela Petro and Joel Reitsma.
