With the graduating cast leaving the halls of Westerberg High, it’s time to welcome in some new students to the cast of Heathers the Musical. Taking on the role of high school geek Veronica Sawyer will be Erin Caldwell and at her side as the dark and moody teen Jason ‘J.D’ Dean is Nathanael Landskroner. See photos of the new cast members here!

Theater Breaking Through Barriers the only professional Off-Broadway theater company dedicated to advancing artists and developing audiences of people with disabilities, recently took a contingent of 14 artists to Japan’s Tottori Prefecture to participate in the 15th BIRD International Theatre Festival. Twenty years ago, a group of Walt Disney World cast members decided they wanted to put their talents to good use beyond their roles within the theme parks. What began as a contingent of nearly seventy players has expanded and grown over the next two decades as hundreds of members come and go at their leisure, based upon the time they can give and the talent they can share. A trio of Tony-nominated artists, Randy Skinner, Anna Louizos and David C. Woolard, will recreate their work for the Broadway revival of “Dames at Sea,” when the light-hearted, dance-centric musical debuts at Bucks County Playhouse, August 12 – September 11.

Berkshire Theatre Group and Kate Maguire have announced casting for shows in BTG’s Early Summer 2022 Season. The full season will feature B.R.O.K.E.N code B.I.R.D switching, a world premiere play and recipient of an NEA Grants for Arts Projects Award and more.

The world premiere Pillow-exclusive engagement, America(na) to Me, will kick off Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival 2022 in the opening week of the Festival – as the first week-long performance in the newly renovated Ted Shawn Theatre – from June 22-26.

CATCO's presentation of the musical HEAD OVER HEELS may be the ultimate May-December romance with an age gap of nearly 400 years. The production takes Arcadia, a 16th century play written by Sir Phillip Sidney and remixes it with the music of the Go Gos, a 1980s all-girl quintet. The musical, which debuted at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in 2015, then throws a spotlight on transgender relationships and current sexual politics.

Will the new musical OTHER WORLD continue in IRL after its premiere at Delaware Theatre Company? I sure hope so!

Chicago's acclaimed Hell in a Handbag Productions makes a long-awaited return to New York with its 20th anniversary production of THE DRAG SEED, an unauthorized parody of the 1956 psychological horror-thriller film The Bad Seed. Written by Artistic Director David Cerda and directed by Cheryl Snodgrass, THE DRAG SEED begins performances March 31 at La MaMa.

George Street Playhouse shared photos today from the first rehearsal for the East Coast premiere of the new musical A Walk on the Moon, which begins preview performances April 26 and opens May 6 at The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, only a short train ride from New York City. 

Jacob’s Pillow has announced Belgian and Moroccan choreographer, dancer, and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui as the recipient of the 2022 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award. Cherkaoui will accept this award and present a new work at the season-opening Gala on June 18.
