The Tooting Arts Club production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street makes history today as it becomes the longest running production of Sweeney Todd on record. Today's performance marks 558, surpassing the 1979 Original Broadway Production directed by Hal Prince.

The Atlanta Opera closes its 2017-18 mainstage season with Stephen Sondheim's seminal musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This production of Sweeney Todd remains faithful to the original Broadway show, and features an all-star cast, including Michael Mayes in his role debut as Sweeney Todd, and Maria Zifchak as Mrs. Lovett. Timothy Myers will conduct in a company debut, and Albert Sherman, who has directed Sweeney Todd under the mentorship of Harold Prince, will serve as production director.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will slay audiences at Atlanta Opera next June, starring Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley in his company debut in the title role. Meredith Arwady will sing the role of Mrs. Lovett.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces that each show of its 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series, "Disaster!", "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert," and "Jesus Christ Superstar," will have performances interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) through a partnership with UConn's Center for Students (CSD) with Disabilities. ASL interpreted performances will take place during the Saturday matinee performances on June 16 for "Disaster!", June 30 for "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert", and July 21 "Jesus Christ Superstar".

An outstanding cast opened Kansas City Repertory Theatre's new production of Steven Sondheim's 1979 'Sweeny Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' at the Spencer Theater on the UMKC campus. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Terrence Mann and Executive Producer Matthew J. Pugliese are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series.  The second season under the artistic leadership of three-time Tony Award nominee Mann will include "Disaster!", "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller In Concert" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". Producers of the Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which broke the Barrow Street Theatre sales house record for the week ending December 31st, announced today that Thom Sesma (as Sweeney Todd), Sally Ann Triplett (as Mrs. Lovett), Zachary Noah Piser (as Tobias), Billy Harrigan Tighe (as Anthony) and DeLaney Westfall (as Johanna) will join current cast members Michael James Leslie (as Judge Turpin), John Rapson (as The Beadle) and Stacie Bono (as Pirelli & Beggar Woman) startingTuesday, February 27, 2018. The cast also includes Matt Leisy, Liz Pearce, Danny Rothman and Monet Sabel.
