New Zealand Native Hayden Tee Will Take Over as Javert in LES MISERABLES!

New Zealand native Hayden Tee will assume the role of Javert beginning Friday, January 29 in Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new Broadway production of Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's LES MISERABLES, now in its second year at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). Tee comes directly to Broadway from the new Australian production ofLES MISERABLES, for which he has received wide acclaim. Earl Carpenter will give his final performance as Javert at the matinee on Sunday, January 24 before departing to star in the upcoming Manila engagement of LES MISERABLES. (more...)

Nominees Announced for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team, host and venue for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. Dora Awards Producer Jacoba Knaapen announced that the much-anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 27 and that it will, for the third time in a row, be held under the stars at Harbourfront Centre. BWW Review: TITANIC Doesn't Sink At The Princess of Wales Theatre

Titanic The Musical opened yesterday afternoon in Toronto, and was met by thunderous applause and a standing ovation following the performance. The musical, which opened in 1997 on Broadway and pre-dates the James Cameron film went on to win five Tony Awards including 'Best Musical' - but still closed at a significant financial loss on Broadway and was negatively received by critics. Brennan Srisirikul is a singer and an actor - he also happens to be in a wheelchair. Srisirikul is thrilled to be hitting the stage at the Metropolitan Room on June 18, 2016 at 1 PM in his one man show, 'In My Own Little Corner', which chronicles his journey rolling through life as a disabled man. This one man show includes stories of the twists, turns, and triumphs of living life on wheels. It is being hailed as 'a story that can heal the world' and audiences are raving, 'a star is born' and that Srisirikul's performance is 'heartwarming and hilarious'. 'In My Own Little Corner' features songs from the musical theatre and pop music canon. Musical direction is by Lila Kane. (more...)

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra with conductor Carl Topilow will salute the Academy Awards for Music at Severance Hall on Friday February 6, 2015. The first half of the two-hour concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and will feature musical selections representing each of the eight decades in which songs and original scores for movies have been recognized by the Academy. The audience will experience, in order of decade, music from The Wizard of Oz (30's), Sea Hawk (40's), Ben Hur (50's) The Graduate (60's), The Godfather (70's), Amadeus (80's), Titanc (90's), and Lord of the Rings (00's). The second hour of the evening will feature a wide selection of songs and scores that were in contention for, but did not win the coveted golden statue - including Chicago, Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, West Side Story, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, and more.
