Miami Actor Matthew Glass Performs Assurbanipal Babilla's SOMETHING SOMETHING UBER ALLES, 10/26

A dark comedy about a present-day Hitler lookalike who is abducted by two gay pastry chefs. Soon, they make him the idol of a Hitler-worshipping cult in a cathedral below the Queens-bound F Train. Playwright Assurbanipal Babilla was forced to flee Iran overnight because of a death warrant due to his controversial writing. In 2006, he was awarded a Hellman/Hammett grant in recognition of his courage in the face of political persecution. Assurbanipal Babilla (Bani) passed away in New York on March 30, 2011 during our previous NYC run at the Brick Theatre's Iranian Theatre Festival.. He dedicated his body to the Westchester Medical Center. The play was originally produced by David Cote with the Author starring in 1998. (more...)

MOTHER JONES AND THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE - presented by The New York Musical Theatre Festival, Crystal Theatre and Benjamin Simpson - has announced a second extension to its run with an additional performance on Friday, July 25 at 5:00 PM. The dramatic new musical inspired by the true story of the trailblazing labor organizer, which already has a sold out performance, will run from July 17 to 26, 2014. The show has book, music and lyrics by Cheryl E. Kemeny (co-founder of Crystal Theatre) and stars Lynne Wintersteller (A Grand Night For Singing and Annie on Broadway) and Robin De Jesus (two time Tony Award nominee). Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance, Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre & Children's Theatre to Host Team Sydni Benefit Concert, 7/20

The Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance and Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre will present a free concert A Magical Musical Adventure on Sunday, July 20 at 7 pm, on the Knight Stage at Middletown High School. Forty-one local dancers ranging in age from 3 to 18 will perform together to raise money for Team Sydni. The concert features many of well-loved fairy tale characters, and includes a variety of song-and-dance styles. There is no charge for admission. Free-will donations will be accepted at the door, and during intermission the dancers' parents have organized a basket raffle, which includes donations from many Middletown merchants in an effort to further help Sydni. This is the second annual summer production of the Dee Buchanan Studio and Way Off Broadway. Last year's concert raised over $2,600 to help another local student, TJ Rufty. (more...)
