We speak to the creators of Gobsmacked, which is heading to the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe.

Tell us a bit about Gobsmacked

Gobsmacked is an entirely a cappella production, meaning that all the music is produced by the human voice alone. It's a completely different style of singing from what people might be used to, and it's always great to Audience members adopting the expression we named the show after!

And you have a London run before the Fringe?

This is our debut London run - it's very exciting to be commuting and performing in a city so full of life and talent.

What sets Gobsmacked apart from other shows at the festival?

The beautiful thing about a cappella is that it's forgettably difficult. You'll be sat there, enjoying the show on a surface level, and then suddenly remind yourself that there are no backing tracks, no band, no drums - it's all singing, beatboxing, and other extended vocal techniques, happening live on stage in front of you. It's a layered show, then, and that's the source of its intensity, I think.

How has audience response been so far?

The audience response has been really great - both a cappella fans and complete newcomers to the world of vocal music have really enjoyed the show. It's great to have a roomful of people sing along with you!

Who would you recommend comes to see Gobsmacked?

It might be a cliche, but Gobsmacked really is for everyone. We've had young children, pensioners, and everything in between sat in the audience. The show is kind of genre-defying, and it's just a chance for everyone to have a good time.
