BWW speaks to Laurynas Zakevicius of Feel-Link about the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show.

Tell us a bit about Feel-Link

This piece led me to propose to Airida (the other performer of the piece) and a bit later to marry her on 18th of August last year. So we will be celebrating the first anniversary of our marriage at the Fringe. Through the vocabulary of urban dance we explore feelings and invite the audience to be engaged in a conversation in the mind about the impalpability of feelings of love in our modern society.

It has already toured and been loved internationally, so we hope it will be received well by audiences, the press and industry contacts in Edinburgh. We invite everyone to come along and celebrate our anniversary with us!

What inspired the show?

The major inspiration for the piece was, and still remains, the amazing performer Nina Simone. After we discovered her live concert performance from the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival of the song "Feelings", we felt that it had to be something we would create a new work around. Thus the idea for the first professional urban dance-based dance theatre piece in Lithuania was created. But to be frank a huge inspiration for the show has been our love lives - past and present!

And the soundtrack plays an important part?

The soundtrack is very important since it was the trampoline for the piece to be started. Three very different tracks go along with the three thematic parts of the show. There's not only dialogue between the two dancers but also between the choreography and music itself.

Are there any other performances you're hoping to catch at the festival?

We want to experience the Fringe to the fullest extent. We are hoping to meet other performers and see their shows and also meet other professional visitors like producers, dance critics, managers as well as theatre-loving audiences who will share share their observations on piece with us.

What's next for the company after the Fringe?

It is our company Low Air's fifth anniversary in October, so to celebrate we'll perform all our work so far - and share ideas for the future.

Timings and ticket information for Feel-Link are available on the edfringe website.
