The Peking Acrobats take center stage at the Gallo Center for the Arts at 2 pm on Sunday, January 19. Widely regarded as China's most gifted troupe of tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists, and gymnasts, with a 2,000-year old tradition of acrobatic artistry, they are on their 27th tour of the United States.

Tickets for the event range in price from $15 to $45, and may be purchased online at www.galloarts.org, by calling (209) 338-2100, or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto.

Since their Western debut in 1986, the Peking Acrobats have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. Performing daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, treacherous wire-walking, trick-cycling, precision tumbling, somersaulting, and gymnastics, they defy gravity with displays of contortion, flexibility, and control.

"The things these kids can do before breakfast...seem to push the envelope of human possibility," said Clive Barnes of the New York Post. "If daring and dexterity turn you on, this is a show that will probably twist you around in your seat. It's amazing and exciting."
