The Mendocino Theatre Company's 2016 season, "A Theatrical Road Trip", opens March 3rd with Doug Wright's Obie Award-winning play QUILLS.

A dark, gleeful comedy, QUILLS is a fictionalized account of the last days of the Marquis de Sade in the insane asylum of Charenton, just outside Paris. With hilarious irreverence and wit, it explores the deliciously meaty subjects of censorship, religion, political corruption, sexual freedom, and the moral responsibility of the artist .

Directed by Ann Woodhead, with a team of talented designers, Quills features two actors new to the company--Phillip Regan as the Marquis and Rachel Sparks in a double role as Madeleine and Madame Royer-Collard--as well as veterans Mark Friedrich, Steven P. Worthen, Mark Marco, and Janice Culliford.

QUILLS plays on the Mendocino Theatre Company stage, 45200 Little Lake Rd. in Mendocino, March 3rd through April 10th, Thursdays-Saturdays, at 8:00pm and 2:00pm on selected Sundays. It is not suitable for children. For tickets or more information, please contact the box office at 707-937-4477 or go to mendocinotheatre.org.
