Get ready for a fun, fast, frolicking good time in 17th century London as historical characters come to life in Mendocino Theatre Company's production of the witty, neo-Restoration comedy, Or, by Liz Duffy Adams, directed by Betty Abramson.

Set in Restoration-era London, Or, is a sexy, modern-and entirely fictional-account of one night in the life of Aphra Behn who, in addition to being the first professional English female playwright, was an international spy, a libertine, and a friend of King Charles II. As she struggles to complete her play, she is interrupted by friends, lovers, spies, and servants. But will she meet Lady Davenant's deadline? Will she thwart the plot against the king? And will she get to enjoy a nice eel pie with her friends?

"Liz Duffy Adams has given us a jewel of a play here", says Ms. Abramson, "...throughout our rehearsal process, I discovered clues she planted in the dialogue to guide us, to aid us in telling our characters' stories. You will be entertained and educated!"

MTC's production of Or, features Nicole Traber as Aphra; Kerel Rennacker in the triple role of Charles/William/Jailer; and Pamela W. Allen as Nell/Maria/LadyDavenant. The creative team includes Diane Larson (set design), Dave Gealey (light design), Ann Woodhead (costume design) and Susan Juhl (sound design). The show runs approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission.

OR, plays at the Mendocino Theatre Company at 45200 Little Lake Street in Mendocino April 20 through May 28, Thursdays - Saturdays at 8:00 pm and selected Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for youth 22 and under. For tickets and information, please contact the MTC box office at 707-937-4477 or go to mendocinotheatre.org.
