Buyer & Cellar and Becoming Dr. Ruth: Two Plays in Repertory at the Mendocino Theatre Company!

The next leg of Mendocino Theatre Company's 2016 theatrical road trip offers something new: a bi-coastal adventure with TWO plays done in repertory. Beginning on July 28th, two shows are presented on alternating nights so that theatre lovers can see two shows in a weekend!

Buyer & Cellar by Jonathan Tolins is a one-man show about an out-of-work actor who takes a job as the sole employee in the basement "shopping mall" of Barbra Streisand's Malibu home. This delightful comedy takes a whimsical look at fame and friendship. It stars NYC actor Tristan Sample (MTC's The Graduate) and is directed by NYC director Stephanie C. Cunningham (MTC's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike).

Playing alongside Buyer, on alternating nights, is the fascinating, warm and funny one-woman bioplay Becoming Dr. Ruthby Mark St. Germain, directed by Elizabeth Craven and Betty Abramson. MTC veteran Ann Woodhead portrays Dr.Ruth Westheimer, everyone's favorite sex therapist, as she tells the incredible story of how she escaped from the Nazis as a child, trained as a sniper for the Haganah in Jerusalem, studied psychology at the Sorbonne, and struggled as a single mother in the United States before finally making her name as a radio and television personality.

Buyer & Cellar and Becoming Dr. Ruth play on alternating days, beginning on July 28th through September 4th. Six Sunday matinees and four Wednesday evening performances are included in the run, with a discount available when purchasing both shows. Please check the theatre website, mendocinotheatre.org to see performance dates and times or call the box office at 707-937-4477. Mendocino Theatre Company is located at 45200 Little Lake Road in Mendocino, on the beautiful grounds of the Mendocino Art Center. Don't miss these delightful plays!
