The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents Mattias Klum, National Geographic photographer and filmmaker, on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at 4:00 p.m., at the Byham Theater. This lecture is the first of a three part series from Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents.

In this NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC LIVE! lecture and photographic overview, Mattias Klum will take the audience on an awe-inspiring journey around the world, one that features unique perspectives on some of Earth's natural wonders-the Okavango Delta, Iceland's glaciers, the deserts of Australia and the rainforests of Southeast Asia. This lecture will be followed by a Q&A and then book signing.

Klum is the author of 20 books, a number of film documentaries, and his photograph work has been featured in many international publications. Since 1997, he has produced a number of articles and eight cover stories for National Geographic. Mattias Klum has undertaken major expeditions around the globe, and in 2011 his travel included China for a multi-year Panda documentary project, and Cameroon and Congo. Klum is a member of the Board of Trustees of WWF Sweden and fellow of National Geographic Society, Stockholm Resilience Centre, and The Linnean Society of London.

Klum's work documenting our planet's biodiversity has earned him a medal from the King of Sweden and designation as a 2008 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. His dynamic storytelling and award-winning photographs and film documentaries convey a resonant message, encouraging us to lighten our footprint on Earth and to consider the legacy we will leave to those who follow. Though his trademark humor, passion, and optimism, Klum reaches audiences on an emotional level, pairing absorbing scientific observations with concrete solutions for protecting the natural world. "I want to make people aware of how rich and full-but also how fragile-life actually is."-Mattias Klum
