    Garth Fagan, Tony Award winner for "Best Choreography" in The Lion King, founder and artistic director of Garth Fagan Dance, is receiving the Apple Award from Wayne State University's Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. "A Conversation with Apple Award Recipient Garth Fagan" will be hosted at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts on March 28 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Fagan will appear in an "actors studio" style interview and question-and-answer session.     The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff will join the cast of HAMILTON as 'King George' on Tuesday, March 3. Groff, who performed in The Public's recent revival of Hair as well as The Bacchae and The Singing Forest, is replacing Brian d'Arcy James, who will be starring in Something Rotten on Broadway this spring. The world premiere musical HAMILTON, inspired by the book 'Alexander Hamilton' by Ron Chernow, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Thomas Kail, has been extended three times at The Public due to sold-out demand and will close as scheduled on Sunday, May 3 prior to a Broadway transfer to the Richard Rodgers Theatre beginning July 13 and opening August 6. Directed by Scott Schwartz and choreographed by Chase Brock, leading the company once again are Michael Arden (Big River) as Quasimodo, Patrick Page (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) as Dom Claude Frollo, Ciara Renee (Pippin) as Esmeralda,Andrew Samonsky (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Captain Phoebus de Martin and Erik Liberman(Lovemusik) as Clopin Trouillefou.     If crowd appeal is any indication of a show's worth, Wicked is a multimillion-dollar treasure. WICKED's second national tour, 'The Munchkinland Tour,' flew into the Fox Theatre on Wednesday, February 18 to play a 3-week engagement, marking the show's fourth engagement at the historic Atlanta venue.     Gallery Players continues its 48th season with a production of the musical, The Baker's Wife. Based on the film La Femme de Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono, The Baker's Wife features music and lyrics byStephen Schwartz (Wicked) and a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler of the Roof). A modern day fable of love that has remained a cult favorite, the musical features the songs 'Meadowlark' and 'Proud Lady,' amongst the many other hidden treasures in this musical. This rarely produced musical will warm the hearts of romantics and cynics alike because this is story is not about true love but about the truth in love and how it shapes us. Directed by Barrie Gelles, The Baker's Wife will open on Saturday, March 7th at 8pm. (more...)

    Children's Playhouse of MD (CPM), in residence at CCBC Essex, will present Disney's My Son Pinocchio, Jr. on weekends, March 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 1 p.m. in the Administration Building at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. There is an additional 4 p.m. show on March 15. The March 21 will be sign language interpreted by students of the CCBC Catonsville American Sign Language Certification program. Show tickets are $10.
