The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, renowned photographer Rankin and stars from the West End gathered in Piccadilly Circus today (Tuesday 7 December), as the famous Piccadilly Lights were lit up with striking portraits of people behind London’s world-leading theatreland.

Plans are underway to convert the Royal Docks in East London into a new cultural quarter. According to London mayor Sadiq Khan, the new cultural quarter could create 35,000 jobs, 4,000 new homes and more than £5 billion of local investment within the next 20 years.

Produced in partnership with the Mayor of London and the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) as part of the #BackOnStage campaign, this will be an ambitious programme of live shoots, a city-wide exhibition, ground-breaking interviews, a book launch and a charity auction – all in celebration of the capital's world-leading theatre industry and its pandemic recovery, and in support of Theatre Artists Fund and London youth homelessness charities.

It was announced today, 13th September, that Matt Forde has added Jeremy Hunt, Anthony Scaramucci, Penny Mordaunt and Anas Sarwar to the upcoming guest line-up for his West End Political Party fortnightly residency, starting with Andy Burnham at The Duchess Theatre on the 27th of September.

Since 2013, Forde has interviewed political figures including Keir Starmer, Nicola Sturgeon, Sadiq Khan, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Tony Blair, Caroline Lucas, Nigel Farage, Tessa Jowell, Alan Johnson, Michael Heseltine, William Hague and George Osborne.

Founder of Tara Arts, Jatinder Verma MBE, is to step down as Artistic Director, forty years after founding the ground-breaking company.

Kiln Theatre today announces their programme as part of Sadiq Khan's wider Brent London Borough of Culture 2020. The programme includes the world première of Zadie Smith's The Wife of Willesden directed by Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham, renewing their collaboration following the acclaimed world première stage adaptation of Smith's White Teeth in 2018, Footholds: NW Stories; a trilogy of short plays by Moira Buffini, Suhayla El-Bushra and Roy Williams, and the fourth annual Mapping Brent project, supported by the Brent 2020 Culture Fund. Kiln Theatre will also lead The Agency, a programme for young people in Brent to workshop and pitch unique business and social enterprise ideas for funding and support.

Suzi Ruffell, Seann Walsh and Rhys James headline Theatre Deli's comedy festival at The Old Library in Burgess Park, Camberwell and Theatre Deli Broadgate for its second year.

On Good Friday, Friday 19th April 2019, the renowned Wintershall Players return to the heart of London with their awe-inspiring full-scale re-enactment of The Passion of Jesus, performed for free in the shadow of the National Gallery. The open-air production was first produced in London in 2010 and The Passion has now become a highly anticipated Easter fixture.
