BWW Reviews: JUNGALBOOK at Sam Bass Showcases Young Talent
by Jeff Davis - Aug 06, 2014

If you attend Jungalbook, currently running at Sam Bass Theatre, leave your memories of the Disney movie at the door. While Kipling takes his inspiration from the jungles of India, Mast finds inspiration in children and their world. It's fitting then, that the Sam Bass Youth Guild would produce Mast's adaptation. It may not be Disney, but given the talent of the young cast, who cares? (more...)

BWW Interviews: Shunya Series - Directors Talk JUNGLE BOOK
by Katricia Lang - Jul 30, 2014

Shunya Theatre's so nice, I interviewed them twice. Or rather, I interviewed them once and liked talking to the cast and crew so much that I decided to cut the interview into a four part series. In this installment, (numero uno) I talk to Directors Sara Kumar and Sunny Sinha. The partners in crime answer the question, 'How real is Shunya Theatre's production of THE JUNGLE BOOK?' Spoiler alert: It's really real. If you doubt their realness, take a look at Director Sunny Sinha's finger gun. He's not playing with y'all. Co-director (and Shunya Artistic Director) Sara Kumar's finger gun could use some work. So, it is entirely possible that she is playing with y'all. But I wouldn't risk it. (more...)
