Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the company for A Thousand Splendid Suns, adapted for the stage by Ursula Rani Sarma and based on the 2007 New York Times bestselling novel by Khaled Hosseini (Kite Runner). Set in 1992 in war-torn Afghanistan, this gripping story centers around a friendship that develops between two Afghan women following a tragedy. While facing insurmountable odds of a brutal and oppressive way of life, the two form an unlikely bond in a heart-rending fight for survival. Directed by Carey Perloff, A Thousand Splendid Suns runs January 17 - March 1, 2020 in the Kreeger Theater.

James Duke Walker, who won a string of acting awards for his film debut in the independent short thriller Roadside Assistance, will play the leading role of NYPD police office Val Johnson in the staged reading production of Dennis McIntyre's controversial police drama Split Second which comes to the New Vibe Lounge, Rockville Centre on Sunday November 17 at 7pm.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a Play with Music will make its New York City Debut in December 2019 with twelve performances across four city landmarks after last year's successful run in Boston. This two-man production features Dickens' original language supported by beloved Christmas songs and old-fashioned Foley-style sound effects, all performed live (see video sneak-peek here).

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) continues its 2019-20 season with the smuggler by Ronán Noone. Running from November 7-24, this darkly-comic drama is directed by Judy Braha.

Playwright Lindsay Joelle introduces us to the unique world of the Rebbe's loyal foot soldiers who travel around Manhattan in a Mitzvah Tank, performing good deeds and spreading the gospel of the Chabad-Lubavitch to non-observant and alienated Jews. In its New England premiere at New Repertory Theatre, under the direction of Celine Rosenthal, TRAYF focuses on the relationship between best friends Zalmy and Shmuel as they explore the boundaries of their faith and friendship.

Kyler Taustin, Executive Artistic Director of Brown Box Theatre Project a?" Massachusetts' premiere travelling, free outdoor Shakespeare a?" announces the opening of Measure for Measure, Shakespeare's timeless tale of gender politics and political corruption. Brown Box will tour to 9 outdoor locations in Massachusetts from August 9-25 before packing up and continuing to perform for audiences down the east coast in Delaware-Maryland-Virginia (Aug. 29-Sept. 21). Measure for Measure is Directed by Kyler Taustin.

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with the Boston area premiere of Richard Strand's Ben Butler from August 2 through August 25 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, a smart and funny discourse on race, protocol and our sense of humanity garnered high critical acclaim during its Off Broadway run in 2016. New York's Joseph Discher who helmed the show's world premiere production in 2014 and the Off Broadway production in 2016, makes his GSC debut directing Ben Butler. Actors Ames Adamson as General Benjamin Butler and Shane Taylor as escaped slave Shepard Mallory make their GSC debut in Ben Butler. The original play 'Saltonstall's Trial' an untold story of the infamous Salem witch trials will make its full-production debut at the historic Larcom Theatre in Beverly, Mass. over 10 performances October 17 to 27, 2019.

Kyler Taustin, Executive Artistic Director of Brown Box Theatre Project Massachusetts' only travelling, free outdoor Shakespeare announces the cast for Measure for Measure, the troupe's largest and most ambitious production to date.
