Cinnabar Theater today announced plans to present the Bay Area premiere of playwright James Lecesne's critically acclaimed one-man play, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, starring renowned actor Michael Pavone in his Cinnabar Theater debut and directed by Nathan Cummings in a performance to be virtually broadcast beginning Friday, January 22 at 7 p.m., continuing with on-demand streaming through Sunday, January 31.

Chay Yew Will Depart as Victory Gardens Artistic Director at End of Season

The Victory Gardens Theater Board of Directors and Artistic Director Chay Yew today announce plans for Yew's departure from Victory Gardens at the end of the 2019-20 Season. An internationally renowned stage director and playwright, Yew has been the Artistic Director of Victory Gardens since July 2011. Yew will finish his ninth and final season through June 2020, and will pursue personal projects upon leaving the theater.

Announced today are the eight members of the second class of the Momentum Fellowship, a full-year program of deep, customized creative and professional support for writers, directors, and producers from underrepresented communities who are poised to take the next step in their careers, working across documentary and feature filmmaking, and episodic content. Sundance Institute also announced the four awardees of the inaugural Launch Grant Fund, a new opportunity for emerging filmmakers from underrepresented communities launching their first feature film.

Atlanta Chinese Dance Company (ACDC) shares a rarely told story about Chinese Americans growing up in the South through an original production Ribbon Dance of Empowerment: Chinese Dance through the Eyes of an American on October 19-20 at the Infinite Energy Theater. Intertwining Chinese dance, history, and culture with personal storytelling by and about some of the nearly 100 dancers, the production celebrates the role the art form has played in their search for identity, belonging, and self-acceptance as Chinese Americans in the South.
