The New York premiere of the new play, 20TH CENTURY BLUES, from Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winner and two-time OBIE Award-winning playwright Susan Miller (MY LEFT BREAST), directed by two-time OBIE Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Emily Mann (HAVING OUR SAY, ANNA IN THE TROPICS), just opened lat night, November 26, for a run through Sunday, January 28, and BroadwayWorld has photos from the opening festivities below!

Vineyard Theatre presents the world premiere production of Harry Clarke by Obie Award-winner David Cale (LILLIAN), directed by Obie Award-winner Leigh Silverman (VIOLET) and starring Tony Award-winner Billy Crudup (THE COAST OF UTOPIA, Spotlight, Vineyard's THE METAL CHILDREN) through December 17. Molly Shannon will guest star on an upcoming episode of NBC's revival of WILL & GRACE. According to the site, the funny lady will reprise her role of Val Bassett, which she originated in a 1999 episode of the show's original run.

This August, Broadway Workshop presented their 3rd annual benefit concert for Project Broadway at NYC's famed supper club - Feinstein's/54 Below. The show entitled - MORE SHOWS WE'VE DONE, featured music from Broadway Workshop's past main stage and workshop productions.

The 2017 Children's Musical Theater Festival took place July 15-16 in New York City at The Baruch Performing Arts Center. ONE FLEA SPARE is a play with a deceptively simple premise, but one that becomes almost overwhelmingly complex as secrets are revealed, motivations get murky and time takes its toll on people. Mr. and Mrs. Snelgrave are upper class Londoners during the plague. As they're quarantined in their home, the acquire two additional people who are then forced to stay in the Snelgrave home to avoid spreading the disease. Morse, a young girl, and Bunce, a retired sailor shake up the staid Snelgrave dynamic and as the four of them are forced to remain in close quarters, class distinctions break down and skeletons come out of the closet. This is a very spare production, set in a black box theatre in the round, but once that is made incredibly compelling through exceptional performances and tight, complex writing. What few props and costumes there are become larger than life and perfectly communicate the heightened and somewhat frantic circumstances the characters find themselves in. By stripping away all the distractions, the performances create an intimacy with the audience that is palpable and electric.

Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS turned to Facebook to announce the sad news that legendary BC/EFA auctioneer Lorna Kelly passed away on Wednesday, June 15th.

Yesterday, Peter Birkenhead wrote an article for the Daily Beast about his mother, lyricist Susan Birkenhead's, struggles that she had overcame, including escaping an abusive husband and raising four children on her own.
