The Des Moines Playhouse will continue to present live theatre with two shows this spring, Some Enchanted Evening – The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Apr. 9-May 9, 2021, and, for families, The Velveteen Rabbit, Apr. 16-May 2, 2021. In-person performances will be presented in repertory, alternating shows by the week, in the John Viars Theatre.

The Des Moines Playhouse, now in its 102nd season, announced a mini-season for winter and spring 2021 that includes a comedy, a musical, and two shows for families. Tickets for in-person and online options are available at dmplayhouse.com and by phone at 515.277.6261.

ODC/Dance has announced The Velveteen Rabbit, KT Nelson's dance theater interpretation of Margery Williams' beloved children's book, will be offered as a virtual, on-demand experience, this season. The Velveteen Rabbit will be on view for a limited time only, from December 10-31, 2020.

When The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati kicks off its 101st season next week, it may look and feel a bit different. But the company will have the opportunity to continue creating life-long memories through its award-winning MainStage productions with both in-person, socially-distanced, LIVE performances, as well as digitally streaming shows.

The Hangar Theatre Company will present its lively summer theatre series for young audiences, KIDDSTUFF, from June 13 to July 25, 2020. All will be presented live and virtually. Rives Collins and Lynn Kelso of Northwestern University's department of theatre announced today the debut of a?oeImagine U Storytime,a?? a weekly video series presented by the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts at Northwestern. The program will debut April 19.

The play stars twenty-two children ages 6 through 16 from throughout Connecticut, and it is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is sponsor of the production.

Derby Dinner Playhouse will open the holiday musical A VELVETEEN RABBIT CHRISTMAS on November 17, 2018 as part of their Children's Musical Theatre Series.

We all have those special toys that became real to us as children. I still have my old teddy bear (who's older than I am) who sits in a place of honor in my living room. This is probably why Margery Williams' classic story "The Velveteen Rabbit" resonated with so many of us. I know it did for me. And now Seattle Children's Theatre in association with Unicorn Theatre (UK) have brought us Williams' beautiful tale for the stage and the magic and wonder and Awww factor of it all couldn't be greater.
