THE VELVETEEN RABBIT Hops Into No Boundaries Youth Theater

Based on the 1922 classic children's book by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit, or How Toys Become Real, tells the story of a toy rabbit who longs for nothing more than to be real. With a script, music, and lyrics written by NBYT Musical Director and Teaching Artist Angela Klimaytis, this magical story explores themes of friendship, love, and overcoming insecurity-all coming to life in a world with plenty of talking toys, a magical nursery fairy, real rabbits, one very real boy, and many others! The play stars twenty-two children ages 6 through 16 from throughout Connecticut, and it is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain sponsors the production.

The Velveteen Rabbit will be performed at Holmes Elementary School, a community space located at 2150 Stanley Street in New Britain. Performances are Friday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $13 for adults and $11 for children, students, and seniors. Founded in 2010 as New Britain Youth Theater and selected by Connecticut Magazine as Connecticut's Best Children's Theater in 2017, No Boundaries Youth Theater is a professionally-run community and educational theater for children and teens.
