Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is currently one of lead members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, recently spoke to Variety about his friendship with legendary playwright, author, and activist, Larry Kramer, who passed away earlier this week.

Ryan Murphy posted a heartfelt tribute to the late Larry Kramer on Instagram yesterday, following the news of his passing. In his post, he revealed that he had recently bought the stage rights to The Normal Heart and The Destiny of Me, and plans to run them on Broadway in rep.

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, legendary playwright, author, and activist, Larry Kramer passed away this morning. With his passing, Kramer leaves behind a legacy of important, eye-opening, controversial art, including his masterpiece, The Normal Heart.

According to the New York Times, Larry Kramer passed away this morning in Manhattan from pneumonia. He was 84 years old.

The Dramatists Guild of America Council has selected Michael R. Jackson as the recipient of the 2019 Hull-Warriner Award, for his musical A Strange Loop. The other finalists for the award were Madeleine George for Hurricane Diane; Stephen Adly Guirgis for Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven and more.

This Spotlight focuses on Simon Levy who began his directing career in San Francisco, then moved to Los Angeles in 1990 where he has been the Producing Director for the Fountain Theatre since 1993. His directing and producing credits are numerous, with over 100 productions in Los Angeles and San Francisco that have won more than 200 awards. His journey has been blessed with having wonderful mentors along the way, which has enabled the talented director to earn his living doing theatre and earned him great respect from the entire L.A. Students in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies (TPS) are tackling complicated issues in their upcoming production of Larry Kramer's 'The Normal Heart,' a heart-wrenching piece centered around the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City. The entire creative team for this production is comprised of current TPS students, including senior Zach Elton as Director, and will be performed at the Onyx Theater February 18-23.

When you consider that the two best-known plays by American authors dealing with the AIDS epidemic, Larry Kramer's THE NORMAL HEART and Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA, are both decades old and set in the 1980s, it's no wonder if playgoers tend to think of the crisis as something of the past which is now primarily under control. Even Matthew Lopez's current, THE INHERITANCE, though set in the 21st Century, focuses on the loss of gay men of that preceding generation.
