59E59 Theaters welcomes Mary J. Davis and MBL Productions with C.O.A.L. (Confessions of a Liar), written by David Brian Colbert and directed by Craig Baldwin. C.O.A.L. (Confessions of a Liar) begins performances on Thursday, March 5 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 22. Press opening is Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday & Saturday at 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $18 ($12.60 for 59E59 Members). Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced that applications are open for the fifth summer of retreats for musical theatre writers and are due February 23. Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will host 8 writing teams with 8 individual weeklong residencies in a private home in the countryside near Rhinebeck, New York. The retreats will take place between June 28 and August 30. Applications are due February 23 and the submission fee is $25. (more...)

Performers included Kirstin Maldonado, Kate Wetherhead,Barrett Wilbert Weed, Tituss Burgess, Keala Settle, Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller, Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk, Joey Contreras, Adam Gwon, Jeff Bowen, Georgia Stitt,Hunter Bell and more, with 5J Barrow returning as the Broadway Unlocked House Band. The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, just welcomed an array of award-winning performers for Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, its annual benefit concert, which was held last night, July 21, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC). Special guests included: Adam Chanler-Berat, Justin Guarini, Zach Unger, Barrett Foa, Lena Hall, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Condola Rashad, Robin de Jesus, Seth Rudetsky, Telly Leung and more! Marcus Stevens, presently starring in "Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging," made a special appearance in Drexel Hill, PA yesterday to meet the cast and enjoy his musical, "Elliot and the Magic Bed." Stevens wrote the book and lyrics for "Elliot" and Brian Lowdermilk, one half of the successful singer-songwriting duo, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, composed the music and wrote the lyrics with Stevens. The musical was originally commissioned for Upper Darby Summer Stage in 2003. (more...)
