REELZ BEVERLY HILLS PAWN Features Taylor's Dress from 'Cleopatra' Today

In light of Cleopatra's 50th anniversary, REELZ today announced that the Beverly Hills Pawn episode 'Guns and Gold Records' featuring a dress Elizabeth Taylor wore in the 20th Century Fox classic is slated to premiere today, July 3, 2013 at 9pm ET/ 8pm PT. The episode will follow Yossi Dina, Beverly Hills Pawn star and owner of The Dina Collection, as he negotiates a high-dollar deal to buy Taylor's costume from Cleopatra, which won four Oscars including Best Costume Design. Today we are talking to a busy and very recognizable actress who has appeared in over 100 TV and film properties since her debut in the 1970s and just this year played arcs on both the freshly-minted 2012 Emmy-winning Best Drama HOMELAND, as well as HBO's hit nighttime vampire series TRUE BLOOD - the accomplished and arresting Linda Purl. Discussing her roles on the hit HBO and Showtime series she has appeared on this year as well as her recent multi-episode stint on NBC's THE OFFICE, Purl sheds some light on her long and rich career and also shares stories from the sets of some of her most famous forays - HAPPY DAYS, VISITING HOURS and more included. Additionally, we shed some light on her upcoming two-night-stand at Feinstein's At Loews Regency, MIDNIGHT CARAVAN… TRAVELS THROUGH THE GREAT NEW YORK NIGHTCLUBS, with special guest Desi Arnaz, Jr., and she sets the stage for what we can expect from the noir-inspired cabaret piece featuring songs of the 1940s and 50s. From stolen pearls to a glove left at the scene of the crime, from an excess of red lipstick to the postmodern gangster silhouette, fashion and style are commonly utilized in film to glamorize and glorify criminal behavior. These images and more will be the focus of the third New York edition of the London-based Fashion in Film Festival to take place at Museum of the Moving Image from May 4 through 13, 2012. Titled If Looks Could Kill, the Festival explores the compelling links between cinema, television, fashion, crime, and violence. (more...)
