Berkshire Theatre Group presents the world premiere of POE by Eric Hill at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, imagining the last days of the writer before his untimely death in Baltimore in 1849. In the title role, David Adkins breathes life into the man, but the play needs life support. Kate Maguire mesmerizes with her recitation of 'The Tell-Tale Heart,' showing that Poe's own words can best provide the necessary drama. (more...)

As if that isn't enough, the cast and crew read like a who's who of Houston theatre. With all this talent, this production is bound to be good. Expect deft direction from Jennifer Decker, quality acting from Bree Bridger, Karen Schlag, and Christie Guidry Stryk, exquisite costume and set design from Jodi Bobrovsky, and a sexy, thrilling, and smart play written by Houston favorite Lisa D'Amour. Rockwell is the author of 'The Little Book of Terror,' a volume of paintings and essays on the Global War on Terror (Foxhead Books, 2012), and her collection of translations of stories by Hindi author Upendranath Ashk, Hats and Doctors, was published in 2013 by Penguin India. Miss Cooper will play her signature setup, a piano and an electric keyboard tuned a quartertone apart, used for its remarkable ability to capture the elusive quasi-pitches of the speaking voice.
