When it opened on Broadway in 2006, The Drowsy Chaperone boasted an all-star cast and garnered five Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. You can expect that same quality in Broadway at Music Circus' third production of the summer, with Lynne Wintersteller returning to Sacramento in the title role. Lynne was last seen here in 2017 as Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! and as Mother Superior in Sister Act, where she solidified her place as Music Circus royalty and left audiences anticipating her return. We are now lucky enough to witness that event and Lynne was generous enough to speak with Broadway World Sacramento about her newest role and what we can expect from her in the future.

In a special episode of OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT titled “Save the Right,” airing this Sunday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME, cartoon Donald Trump and Ben Shapiro lead a movement to establish equal rights for Conservative Americans. The 28-minute episode stands out from the series with a more cinematic feel and includes a satirical song with Tony Award-winner James Monroe Iglehart (Broadway's Hamilton and Aladdin). Additional vocals were provided by Kathryn Allison (Aladdin) and Gabriel Gundacker, who composed the song.

The creators of OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT released a new cold open today inspired by this week's first 2020 Democratic debates for the upcoming episode on Sunday, June 30 at 8PM ETPT on SHOWTIME, including cartoon versions of Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O'Rourke, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. In less than 12 following the debates, the episode intro was written, recorded, and animated.

Two L.A. Theaters To Host 'Mueller Report Read-A-Thons' In July

Two venerable Los Angeles intimate theaters will each host a Mueller Report Read-A-Thon, offering Angelenos the opportunity to hear the Mueller Report read aloud, in its entirety, on either side of the City. The Fountain Theatre in East Hollywood will host a single, 15-hour event on Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to midnight. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West L.A. will hold a separate marathon reading, breaking it up into two 8-hour sessions on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, each from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission to both Read-A-thons is free and open to the public.
QUICKIE FEST, The One-Minute Movie Festival, Announces Special Jury, Film Slate

Quickie Fest 7, the one-minute movie festival, has announced its roster of Special Jury members and short film slate for its seventh incarnation, which will take place this Saturday, June 29th at 7:00PM at NYC's SVA Theatre. The event will kick off with beer from Brooklyn's Six Point Brewing (included with every ticket) followed by back-to-back short films, all under a minute long. The evening will conclude with the jury awards.
