Maria Dizzia to Lead WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME in LA and Chicago

Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia will star in the first two stops of the national tour of Heidi Schreck's Tony Award nominated play and Pulitzer Prize finalist What the Constitution Means to Me, directed by Oliver Butler. Dizzia will perform the lead role in Los Angeles at the Mark Taper Forum and in Chicago at the Broadway Playhouse

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) is pleased to announce that Cora Cahan has been appointed President and CEO of BAC. She will assume the role in mid-October 2019. Ms. Cahan succeeds Georgiana Pickett, who served as the organization's Executive Director from August 2011 to April 2019.

Heidi Schreck's Tony Award nominated play and Pulitzer Prize finalist What the Constitution Means to Me, directed by Oliver Butler, will embark on a national tour in January 2020, beginning at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and playing 40 weeks in 22 cities including Charlotte, Hartford, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, with more to be announced. All venues, dates, and casting for the national tour will be announced at a later date.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by the current stars of Waitress, Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online here at BroadwayWorld.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories - and bestowed one special award - for the 34th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts, beginning at 7:00pm EST. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF. Beloved and celebrated entertainer, Wayne Brady, will emcee the ceremony.

On the night of its official opening, What the Constitution Means to Me has announced an extension of six additional weeks on Broadway. Initially announced for a 12-week engagement through June 9, 2019, What the Constitution Means to Me will now play through July 21, 2019 at the Helen Hayes Theater (240 W 44th Street, New York, NY). What the Constitution Means to Me officially opened tonight, March 31, 2019, after beginning performances on March 14.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's FLEABAG Recoups Off-Broadway Run

FLEABAG has recouped its investment Off-Broadway. Capitalized at $400,000, the show opened to rave reviews at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) and has recouped in three weeks.

 Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its Spring 2019 season on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 7:30pm with a performance by St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble +Adam Rosenblatt, percussionist, at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street). Rosenblatt will perform Belgian composer Thierry de Mey's theatrical and dramatic piece Light Music, in which movements and gestures produce light and sound through interactive technology. This interdisciplinary solo performance will be bookended by Viennese classics - Joseph Haydn's festive Divertimento for Strings from 1754 and Joseph Lanner's charming 19th century waltzes, performed by the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble. These virtuosic musicians make up the artistic core of the renowned Orchestra of St. Luke's - who share the performing arts complex with BAC at 450 W. 37th Street.

The producers of Fleabag have announced a cancellation line for performances of the strictly limited and sold out engagement. Beginning one hour prior to curtain, cancellation tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be sold at full price ($125). The cancellation line is outside the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street). Ticket availability is not guaranteed.
