Cast And Creatives Announced For FACELESS at the Old Globe

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of Faceless by award-winning playwright Selina Fillinger (The Armor Plays: Cinched/Strapped, Something Clean), which was presented in the 2019 Powers New Voices Festival and will be directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch (the Globe's The Last Match and also Off Broadway, Bethany, and The Blameless). Faceless runs March 28 a?" April 26, 2020 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Previews run March 28 a?" April 1, with opening night on Thursday, April 2, at 8:00 p.m. Single tickets are on sale now, starting at $30.00, and can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE [234-5623], or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park. Following its run at the Globe, Faceless will tour to four Community Partner venues with our free Globe for All program from April 30 to May 3.

Composer Chou Wen-chung, who died recently at the age of 96, was honored at the most recent 'red fish blue fish' percussion concert. Chou's works have been performed by major orchestras throughout the world, and he mentored many who have gone on to successful careers of their own. Tan Dun and Chen Yi are among his best known students. Tan once called him 'the godfather of Chinese contemporary music.'

The Old Globe presents West Coast premiere of Little Women by Kate Hamill. This brand-new version of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel about Jo March and her three unforgettably distinct sisters is presented in association with Dallas Theater Center and is directed by Sarah Rasmussen (Artistic Director of Jungle Theater, which originally commissioned the play).

The Old Globe's Annual Meeting was held on Monday, February 3, 2020 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Board Chair Nicole A. Clay welcomed the members of The Old Globe Board of Directors along with donors, subscribers, and guests, and announced the newly elected Directors serving three-year terms. Globe senior staff members presented highlights of the 2019 fiscal year, and Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Managing Director Timothy J. Shields spoke about the future of the Globe and its place in the San Diego community.

Applications Available for Pam Farr Summer Shakeseare Studio 2020 At The Old Globe

As part of The Old Globe's ongoing commitment to serve the public good by hosting programs that serve all of San Diego County, applications are now available online for the 2020 Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio for high school students. Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, March 31. The four-week program is a unique opportunity for rising 9th a?" 12th graders and recent graduates not only to develop foundational skills for reading, interpreting, and performing Shakespeare's plays, but also to cultivate their own artistic voice through storytelling and creating original material.

The Old Globe's 22nd annual production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! opens Friday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. The holiday musical will run through December 29 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Previews began November 10. The Grinch is directed by James Vásquez, with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. The original production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was conceived and directed by Jack O'Brien with additional lyrics by Theodor S. Geisel, additional music by Albert Hague, and original choreography by John DeLuca.
