Variety reports that, after 11 years of Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood consistently hosting the Country Music Awards, ABC and the Country Music Association have decided to change things up. Underwood returns with Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire--Paisley departed the program.

The Country Music Association visited Charlotte Wednesday, Aug. 7 with Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Jordan Reynolds and Frank Rogers. During the trip, the songwriters met with band students from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as part of U.S. Bank's Community Possible giving and engagement platform and its Places to Play partnership with the CMA Foundation, followed by a CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank performance at the McGlohon Theater.

The Grand Rapids Symphony definitely was 'Blessed' last night to have 'Jesus Take The Wheel' as guest song writers from Nashville perform there chart topping hits and tell the stories along with them, turning the ski area into a larger Blue Bird Cafe for the special event. As 'Went Out Last Night', we were 'Living in Fast Forward', and 'Playing Cinderella' and there might have been 'Something In The Water' as sweet as 'American Honey', some may have been a 'Real Good Man' or had a 'Girl Crush' but we all knew we'd be leaving 'When The Sun Goes Down'. Although leaving some people might have been thinking 'When I Get Where I'm Going', and thinking of the other great songs we heard.

But without songwriters Dewayne Blackwell and Earl Bud Lee, Garth Brooks never would have sung Friends in Low Places. Nor would you ever have heard Before He Cheats or Live Like You Were Dying without Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear to write the former for Carrie Underwood or Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman to pen the latter for Tim McGraw.

'End of the World,' the lead single from Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors' new album Dragons, is off to the races at AAA Radio where it tied for #1 most added this week and took the #4 most added spot at Americana Radio. The song was co-written by Holcomb and Sean McConnell (Brad Paisley, Eli Young Band, Tim McGraw) and features one of the boldest vocal performances of Holcomb's career. Take a listen now!

Twenty-five years ago in Grand Rapids, the Van Andel Arena still was on the drawing board. The Country Music Association's acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank has announced a performance in Charlotte at the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square Wednesday, Aug. 7 featuring Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Jordan Reynolds and Frank Rogers. The series hosts an intimate round of performances with some of Country Music's top songwriting talent taking turns sharing the stories behind their hit songs and performing them as originally written. Tickets for the performance start at $15 plus service fees and go on sale Friday, July 12 at 10:00 AMET at Blumenthal Performing Arts. $1 of each ticket sold will benefit the CMA Foundation, CMA's philanthropic arm, which is committed to improving and sustaining high quality music education programs across the United States. 

“End of the World” – an electrified clarion call for unity, community, and revelry in the upside-down world of today –  is the latest single from Holcomb's forthcoming albumDragons, due out August 16, 2019 via Thirty Tigers. The track was co-written with fellow Nashville songwriter Sean McConnell (Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw) and forced Holcomb out of his comfort zone and into new vocal and melodic heights: “Sometimes throwing a party is the only way to fight off the darkness, and I wanted it to be an epic, boisterous, raise-your-glass-and-yell-with-me anthem.”
