The stage and television actress Kathryn Kates will play the title role in 'Letters to Sala,' Arlene Hutton's stirring drama about a New York woman's hidden Holocaust past. Lynn Cohen was previously announced to portray Sala Garncarz, who kept her story of survival from seven Nazi labor camps hidden from her family for nearly 50 years. (more...)

'Inch by Inch' is a one-act by Rachel Graf Evans. When Bridget and Tom return to Bridget's hometown for her mother's funeral, Bridget learns that she has inherited the house and vegetable garden. However, only once she reconciles her deep-seated fears about family and identity will the garden let her escape. 'Inch by Inch' will have its world premiere September 13 to 19 at Producers' Club Theaters, 358 West 44th Street, as part of Theater for the New City's 2015 Dream Up Festival. (more...)

Single Room Occupancy, a new pop/rock comedy musical will be presented as part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival on August 14, 17, 20, 21 and 27.  Written by and starring popular theatre, film and television actor  Ben Rauch (HBO's Girls, Jersey Boys-The Movie, Gossip Girl), Single Room Occupancy has lyrics by Gaby Gold, Rory Scholl, and Ben Rauch, set design by You-Shin Chen, lighting design by Suzanne Immarigeon, sound design by Joshua D. Reid, choreography by Jebbel Arce, musical direction by Noriko Sunamoto  and will be directed by Joey Murray. The musical will run at the Lynn Redgrave Theatre at Culture Project (Venue #13), 45 Bleecker Street (at Lafayette) for five shows only. This is where the new Rhode Island-based theater group Festival51 comes in. Taking their name from the undeniable fact that women make up 51 percent of the population, Festival51 aims to put women playwrights center stage and (literally) change the face of American theater. The brainchild of actress and director Leann Heath and her co-producer actor/director Terry Shea, Festival51, will produce their first annual original play festival focused solely on developing the work of emerging female writers July through August at Mixed Magic Theatre's new venue in the former Lorraine Mills in Pawtucket, RI. Bella Poynton is a playwright and Buffalo native, currently working as a teaching artist throughout the Buffalo and Central NY regions. Her plays have been developed at the Great Plains Theater Conference, Otherworld Theater, The Science Fiction Theater Company, Panndora Productions, and The Barrow Group. She recently won the 8th Annual Festival of New Plays at Panndora Productions, and is a finalist in the 2015 Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival. (more...)

Lynn Cohen ("Sex in the City" and "The Hunger Games") has been cast in the title role of "Letters to Sala," Arlene Hutton's stirring drama about a New York family coming to grips with the sudden disclosure of its matriarch's hidden Holocaust past.  Co-produced by The Journey Company and F.A.B. Women@TBG, "Letters to Sala" will have its New York premiere at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, in a three-week engagement from October 3 to 18.  Directed by Eric Nightengale, "Letters to Sala" will also feature Alice Jankell and Laura Kamin who represent the family's second and third generation survivors.
