Woman Indicted in Fatal Shoving of Barbara Maier Gustern Ordered Held Without Bail

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, 26 year-old Lauren Pazienza was arrested and charged with fatally shoving Broadway singing coach Barbara Maier Gustern. Pazienza was charged with manslaughter, and was initially released on bail. Today, it has been reported that Pazienza was ordered held without bail.

Broadway singing coach Barbara Maier Gustern has passed away at age 87. Gustern was pushed to the ground last Thursday by a woman outside of her apartment building in Manhattan, and died this morning from a traumatic brain injury.

Tonight that show LIFE, AND LOVE, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE?  had its debut in front of a live audience in the back room of Pangea. Bleier explained to us that when they were putting the show together two years ago, they intended to write a show with a political theme. But in these extraordinary times, they have discovered that really everything is political. Everything. And that’s the show they have put together: an evening about the politics of patriotism, the politics of career, the politics of aging, the politics of men and women, the politics of marriage, the politics of family, and the politics of falling in love. It is, in fact, a show about everything.

The show: “Bits and Pieces” starring cabaret duo, singer/actress Barbara Bleier and theater/film actor/singer, Austin Pendleton. Their special guests were their show director, singer/actress, Barbara Maier Gustern and theater legend Richard Maltby, Jr. This was the second night in a three night run.
