LISA RAMIREZ (Actor/Playwright) Originally from San Francisco, Lisa performed at many Bay Area Theatres including The Magic Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, Actor’s Theatre, and Intersection for the Arts. She received 3 Bay Area Critics Circle Awards and a Dramalogue Award for her work as an actor. In addition to acting, Lisa was the Literary Director for Brava for Women in the Arts. In New York, Lisa has performed at HERE Arts Center, The Cherry Lane, Working Theater, 3 Legged Dog, INTAR, the Ontological-Hysteric Theatre, and New York Theatre Workshop.
Lisa’s first play, EXIT CUCKOO (nanny in motherland) was first presented Off Broadway by the Working Theater (Colman Domingo-director) and subsequently toured in various theatres throughout the U.S. and Ireland. Other writing credits include; ART OF MEMORY; a dance theatre piece that was commissioned by Company SoGoNo and presented at the Ontological-Hysteric Theater and the 3-Legged Dog in New York. (Conceived and directed by Tanya Calamoneri); INVISIBLE WOMEN-RISE; a collaboration with the Foundry Theatre and Domestic Workers United; TO THE BONE; a Working Theater commission (Lisa Peterson-director). TO THE BONE was a 2011 Smith Prize, O’Neill National Playwrights Conference and Ellen Stewart Award finalist. Most recent work; ALL FALL DOWN written during a residency at INTAR’s 2011/12 Maria Irene Fornés Hispanic Playwrights in Residency Lab. Lisa is one of the four playwrights in the 15th Anniversary of the Mentor Project at the Cherry Lane Theatre this season and has written Pas de Deux (lost my shoe)
