This is Rose Weaver’s 49th year as an actor, singer, and budding playwright.
Trinity Rep: She began her career at Trinity Rep in 1973 as an Acting Fellow. Earning her Equity card in 1975, Rose appeared as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grille, Dussie Mae in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Bernice in The Piano Lesson, the Witch in Into the Woods, The Good Times Are Killing Me, The Waiting Room, Another Part of the Forest, Measure for Measure, Side by Side by Sondheim, Brother to Dragons, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Aimee, A Christmas Carol, Jonestown Express, Tintypes, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Boys from Syracuse, School for Scandal, and From the Mississippi Delta. Other Theatres: The Mark Taper, The Walnut Street Theatre, Old Globe San Diego, Arkansas Rep, National Theatre Company. Film/Television: In the Heat of the Night, Poetic Justice, LA Law, Tales From the Crypt, The Accused, Not In My Family, Lady in White, Go Tell It On the Mountain. Other: Original Plays include Menopause Mama, Skips in the Record, and Black Women Taking Off the Masks. Teaching: Wheaton College, RI College, Moses Brown School. Awards include The Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts 2000, R. I. Heritage Harbor Hall of Fame, Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Fellowships in Playwriting, Lucille Lortel Playwriting Award, GoLocal Providence’s R.I. Woman of the Year, Rhode Island Foundation Fellowships and New Works Awards, Business Volunteers in the Arts/RI Achievement in the Arts, YWCA Woman of the Year Awards in Arts, and The RI Historical Society History Maker Award. Rose is the author and actress of the one-woman play, Menopause Mama and the new play, Black Women Taking Off the Masks. Rose is published in Monologues for Women by Women, Heinemann, and NuMuse: An Anthology of Plays from Brown University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College (Massachusetts), a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Brown University at the age of 50, and holds three Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees from Wheaton College, Marymount Manhattan College, and Providence College. Just completed a run of Gem of the Ocean as Sun Ester at Trinity Repertory Co with a fine cast and superb director, Jude Sandy!

Trinity Repertory Company is inviting the public to nominate outstanding local artists for the 2020 Rhode Island Pell Awards for Excellence in the Arts. The Pell Awards' criteria include distinction in the artist's chosen field, work that significantly advances the art form and contribution to the betterment of the community, and the world at large through artistic presence and community service. Awards will be presented at the theater's gala event on Monday, June 1, 2020.

Trinity Repertory Company Continues 2019-2020 Season with August Wilson's RADIO GOLF


Trinity Rep continues its 2019-20 Season with the final play from American theatrical legend August Wilson - Radio Golf. Directed by resident acting company member Jude Sandy, the show features resident acting company member Joe Wilson, Jr., as Harmond Wilks, a man determined to revive his childhood neighborhood without considering the emotional cost. Both moving and funny, Radio Golf is the culmination of August Wilson's ten-play American Century Cycle chronicling each decade of African-American life in the twentieth century. Trinity Rep Announces The 2019 Pell Award For Lifetime Achievement In The Arts


Trinity Repertory Company announced today that the Indigo Girls will be honored with the 2019 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts in recognition of their artistic achievements and advocacy at the theater's 23rd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, RI. Trinity Rep Announces 2019 Rhode Island Pell Award Winners


Trinity Repertory Company announced today that three area residents will be honored at its 2019 Pell Awards Gala on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Providence. Storyteller Valerie Tutson will receive the Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Central Falls High School teacher Deloris Davis Grant will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts. The Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts will go to Rosanne Somerson, President of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Additional honorees will be announced at a later date.
