Disney’s hit musical Aladdin will welcome Sonya Balsara to the company as Jasmine beginning Thursday, January 19. Aladdin marks Balsara’s Broadway debut, though she played the role on Broadway for several weeks last fall. 

A private 29-hour reading of a new musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby, written by the Tony Award-nominated songwriting duo of Nathan Tysen and Jason Howland (Paradise Square), with book by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones) and directed by Mark Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), will be held tomorrow, Friday, May 20 in New York City. 

Michael James Scott (Genie) surprised a lucky guest – the 888th ticketholder scanned at the theatre that afternoon – with a cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish. The giveaway was announced during curtain call in front of the sold-out audience.

This morning, Good Morning America shared the first-ever televised broadcast of the magic carpet flight during 'A Whole New World' in Aladdin, featuring new cast members Michael Maliakel as Aladdin and Shoba Narayan as Jasmine. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Aladdin has canceled performances for Friday, October 1st through Sunday, October 10th. Their next planned performance is Tuesday, October 12th at 7pm.
