Claire van Kampen BIO

Internationally renowned as an academic, lecturer, performer and composer, Claire has composed original scores for film, television, ballet and theatre including Broadway productions of True West, La Bête and Boeing-Boeing. Recently she made her directorial debut with Nice Fish. Farinelli and the King marks her playwriting debut. As Founding Director of Theatre Music of Shakespeare’s Globe, Claire received the Sam Wanamaker Award in 2007. In 2015, The Globe made her a Senior Research Fellow. She is an Associate Artist of the Old Vic Theatre.

Mark Rylance Resigns from RSC Due to BP Sponsorship

According to the Guardian, three-time Tony winner Mark Rylance has resigned as an associate artist with the UK's Royal Shakespeare Company due to a sponsorship deal with BP. He explained: "I do not wish to be associated with BP any more than I would with an arms dealer, a tobacco salesman or anyone who wilfully destroys the lives of others alive and unborn. Nor, I believe, would William Shakespeare."
