World Of Art Showcase Features Raleigh Artist Carol Joy Shannon

The World of Art Showcase (WOAS), an international art show dedicated to exhibiting talented artists and creating a community where artists have direct access to their market, has announced that Carol Joy Shannon will be a featured artist at the inaugural event Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Raleigh Convention Center, located at 500 S. Salisbury Street. A Raleigh-based painter, Shannon is expected to bring a local flare to the showcase. Shannon's work has been displayed at multiple local venues, including the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, N.C., the Raleigh Art Commission's Miriam Preston Block Gallery and the United Arts Council of Raleigh, as well as in public and private collections throughout the U.S., Europe and Brazil. She is a founding member of the ChromaZones, a group of 12 regional abstract artists who create several large-format, collaborative works each year to raise funds benefiting local nonprofit groups. She is also a member of Visual Art Exchange and the Durham Art Guild, and participates in several significant juried art festivals every year, including Raleigh's Artsplosure. Shannon's latest project is titled 'City Series' and depicts large, colorful, architectural abstracts that convey the memories and images she has gleaned while living in various locations throughout the world. She is currently creating a foundation to utilize this project in conjunction with major U.S. cities to raise funds for organizations serving the hungry and the homeless. For more information on Shannon and the work she will exhibit at WOAS, visit the WOAS website. Quotes: 'We are extremely excited to have Carol Joy join us at the WOAS this year,' said Samantha Velkoff, WOAS director. 'Her colorful pieces will be a great addition to the many works of art featured at our inaugural event, and we look forward to having Carol Joy present for the showcase.' Audience members will have the opportunity to attend receptions, artist lectures, panel discussions, live art demonstrations and more.
