Random Access Theatre will present A Night of 'Bad' Theatre, an evening of three brand new short plays and live music from local bands, including DDWhite, to benefit their 2017 season.

Playing off of traditional theatrical tropes and cliches, playwrights Caroline Prugh, Robert Price and Samara Weiss have crafted purposefully 'bad' plays, which will be performed by Random Access' resident company of artistic associates at Joe's Pub on Monday, January 30th at 9:30pm.

A Night of 'Bad' Theatre will benefit Random Access Theatre's ongoing programming as well as their first repertory season: Resistance and Rebellion in Rep. During this 2017 season Random Access will present productions of Sophocles' Antigone and Ernst Toller's Hoppla, We're Alive! in rep, two plays that defied the conventions of their time with characters that resisted the man. A Night of 'Bad' Theatre will also benefit Random Access' annual programming, including Drunk Restoration Comedy and RAWR. Over the course of 2016 Random Access Theatre established their popular Drunk Restoration Comedy series, bringing together top actors and improvisers from the NYC comedy scene monthly to perform classic pieces of theatre while heavily under the influence. Part scripted, part improvisation, part audience participation drinking game, the show regularly sells out the The Players Theatre in its Friday night time slot. Random Access also produced another successful season of RAWR (Random Access Workshop Readings) a new play reading series that gives playwrights a five to six month period of time in which to develop a play, paired with a director and dramaturg, over the course of three readings which progress from casual living room read to a final open to the public staged reading. All three readings are followed by a lively talkback and are completely free for all who attend.

DDWhite is a Detroit-raised/NYC-based band founded in early 2016. Their high-energy performances draw from an eclectic taste of music-- rock, soul, surf-pop, broadway, and gypsy punk rooted from a base of Motown influence. The distinctive rawness, solid rhythm section and a good old-fashioned hooks create a contagious atmosphere of fun musical ambition.
