Nora's Playhouse Artistic Director and Co-Founder Caroline Reddick Lawson has named Rebecca Lovett as the theatre company's the new Managing Director. Lovett joined Nora's Playhouse as an Artistic Associate in 2013 and has served as Nora's Assistant Managing Director since February 2015. She was also the General Manager for their acclaimed 2015 production of Rose starring Kathleen Chalfant.

Formerly the Operations Manager and Director of Special Events for Brooklyn's One Girl Cookies and the Marketing Director for Chatting with the Tea Party (Robert Moss Theater), Lovett currently works with The Episcopal Actors' Guild, a nonsectarian charity providing emergency financial and sustenance assistance and career support to NYC's professional performers. She holds a BA in Theatre and Sociology from Tulane University.

Lovett succeeds longtime Managing Director and Co-Founder Emily J. Richard, who has stepped down in order to launch her new business, Simple Brewing Company. Richard will remain an advisor at Nora's Playhouse with the title Founder/Managing Director Emerita.

Caroline Reddick Lawson said, "I am very thankful for the extraordinary job that Emily Richard has done as The Managing Director for Nora's Playhouse since our beginnings in 2008. Although I am sad that she must step down from this leadership role, I am enormously reassured and excited that Rebecca Lovett has assumed the position of Managing Director. Rebecca is impressively capable, hardworking and positive-spirited. She will do a splendid job in this crucial leadership position for Nora's Playhouse."

"Rebecca brings tireless energy and creativity to the Nora's team," added Associate Artistic Director Amy S. Green. "We are very fortunate that she is able to step up to Managing Director as Nora's moves into its next phase of growth and development."

Nora's Playhouse will be presenting a reading of Suzanne Trauth's Rehearsing Desire in August and is working with playwright Catherine Filloux to develop her new piece about women in mass incarceration.

Named for the heroine of Ibsen's A Doll's House, Nora's Playhouse is a theatre company devoted to telling women's stories through the collaboration of women theatre artists. Their women-centered mission addresses the fact that women are still under-represented as directors, playwrights, designers, managers, and technical staff in professional theatre, and as the primary subject matter for scripts. Nora's Playhouse is interested in sharing a wide range of women's stories and has a particular commitment to shedding light on women's human rights issues.
