Cynthia Morrison, of West Palm Beach Florida, is a graduate of the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. This month she will travel to Manhattan, N.Y.where her short play, "Going Up?", will appear Off Off Broadway as part of "Take Back the Rom Com" evening of romantic comedies presented by NYC Playwrights group at the Jewel Box Theatre.

Morrison explained that, "The inspiration for creating my short play, Going Up?, was the actual fear of escalators that my grandmother dealt with during her lifetime. I remember well when she and I would go shopping in the 1960's & 70's that she would stop abruptly and hesitate getting onto the escalator." Later on in life Morrison learned through research that "Escalaphobia" is an actual fear that is very real. Some escalaphobics see these moving steps as reaching on into infinity while other victims of the condition become dizzy and experience motion sickness. There is also treatment for escalaphobia. In her play "Going Up?" she presents a young couple in process of purchasing their weeding rings. The Bride to be expresses her terrifying thoughts about the only route available to gain her everlasting band of gold which happens to be the escalator! Last year Morrison's play "Peppered Precinct" won 2nd prize and was presented at the Wolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington D.C. "This year I am looking very forward the presentation of my work Off Off Broadway" she shared.
