Founded in 1984, The Pearl Theatre Company, New York's only classical Resident Acting Company, began as a small troupe of artists in Chelsea and is now a celebrated Off-Broadway institution with its own permanent home on West 42nd Street. The Pearl's 30th anniversary season will showcase the Company's talents in productions of classic plays that are especially suited to the ensemble's skills-including a world premiere written especially for them.

The season kicks off with George Bernard Shaw's You Never Can Tell (Sept 3 - Oct 13), a co-production with the Gingold Theatrical Group that is directed by David Staller. The show's sumptuous costumes, elegant settings and Shavian wit will raise a champagne toast to a year of celebration. Next, The Pearl will premiere four-time Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally's highly anticipated And Away We Go (Nov 12 - Dec 15), a play that celebrates the classics, acting companies and The Pearl itself. Next, The Pearl's Resident Acting Company will take on a touchstone of French existentialism, Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit (Feb 25 - Mar 30, 2014). Closing the season is Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The Rivals (Apr 22 - May 25, 2014), a sparkling comedy of manners. The Pearl's Resident Acting Company will tackle all the mistaken identities, misunderstandings and wordplay run amok in Sheridan's early masterpiece.

Artistic Director J. R. Sullivan said, "We are proud to present this celebratory season for our long-time supporters as well as for those just discovering New York's 'hidden gem' in its 30th year."

Board Chair Allison Cooke Kellogg adds, "Since our special appeal this winter, nearly 1,000 donors contributed over $400,000 to support The Pearl and the outstanding work of its Resident Acting Company. The incredible outpouring of support from first-time donors, long-time supporters, and the Board of Trustees was a clear indication that the work being done by The Pearl is necessary and valued by the community."

Sullivan went on to add, "The Pearl is moving forward with its 30th Anniversary season thanks to the tremendous passion of Pearl supporters during our first year in the new theatre at 555 West 42nd Street."

With the 2013-14 season, The Pearl announces a new membership program that not only provides discount tickets to the season, but also gives access to special member-only events through the season.
