Primary Stage's THE MODEL APARTMENT Sells Out Limited Run at 59E59 Theaters

Primary Stages, has announced that their new production of The Model Apartment, by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies (Shipwrecked!, Time Stands Still, Dinner with Friends, Sight Unseen) has sold out the remainder of its limited-engagement through November 1 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters.

Opening to critical acclaim, Ben Brantley of The New York Times called the production "A first-rate revival of a very fine playwright's masterwork ... the great Margulies play that got away. An impeccably mounted Primary Stages production ... directed with care by Evan Cabnet, with acting to match by the four-member cast of Mark Blum and Kathryn Grody, Diane Davis and Hubert Point-Du Jour." Richard Zoglin of Time Magazine describes The Model Apartment as "an American masterpiece ...A great play rediscovered. A stunning new off-Broadway production from Primary Stages." Melissa Rose-Bernardo of Entertainment Weekly calls the production "Awe Inspiring ...I'm not likely to forget," while David Cote of NY1 News describes it as "a highly theatrical physiological thriller." Jeremy Gerard of Bloomberg News calls the show "Riveting. Explosive. Gripping."

"We are thrilled that audience and critical response to The Model Apartment has been so positive and overwhelming," says Andrew Leynse. "While we cannot extend the current run at 59E59 Theaters, we are looking at other ways to keep the production going."

For sold out performances, the box office at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters will take names for a waiting list in-person on the day of show. Lists begin at 4pm for evening performances and 12 noon for matinees.

Primary Stages continues their 29th season with a new production of their acclaimed 1995 OBIE Award winner, The Model Apartment, by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies (Shipwrecked!, Time Stands Still, Dinner with Friends, Sight Unseen). Directed by Evan Cabnet (A Kid Like Jake at Lincoln Center Theater, The Performers on Broadway), the production will feature Mark Blum (The Assembled Parties andGore Vidal's The Best Man on Broadway), Diane Davis (Old Acquaintance on Broadway, Regrets Only at MTC), two-time Obie Award-winnerKathryn Grody (The Marriage of Bette & Boo, Top Girls, A Mom's Life), and Hubert Point-Du Jour (Angels in America and The Brother/Sister Plays Off-Broadway). The Model Apartment features a scenic design by Lauren Halpern, costume design by Jenny Mannis, lighting design by Keith Parham, and original music and sound design by Josh Schmidt.

When Max and Lola, two Holocaust survivors from Brooklyn, retire to Florida, they find their new condo unfinished and are forced to spend the night in a "model apartment" where things are not always as they seem. In this brilliant and bizarre Drama Desk-nominated black comedy, Max and Lola soon realize that if they ever want to truly "retire," they must first confront the demons of their past.
