Steve Martin, the multi-talented Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian who has recently reached new pinnacles as a musician, will perform "An Evening of Bluegrass and Banjo" with the Steep Canyon Rangers at Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre, Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 7 p.m. His first bluegrass album, "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Bango," was released in May 2009 by Rounder Records, where it stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart for 12 weeks. "The Crow" was also awarded the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album (Vocal or Instrumental) in January 2010.

Steve Martin became a TV writer in the late 1960s, winning an Emmy Award for his work on the hit series "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour." Launched by frequent appearances on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" and especially as a "Wild and Crazy Guy" with Dan Aykroyd on "Saturday Night Live," Martin drew standing room only crowds touring some of the largest venues in the country. In 2003, he also won a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumentalist for his playing on Earl Scruggs 75th Anniversary albuM. Martin has starred in many feature films over the past 30 years-from the comedies "The Jerk," "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Father of the Bride" to dramas including "L.A. Story" and "Shopgirl." One of the most accomplished performers in the entertainment industry today, he has hosted the Academy Awards three times, is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and The New York Times and earned Kennedy Center Honors in 2007. He is also scheduled to appear with the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN in June 2010.

Steve Martin will perform "An Evening of Bluegrass and Banjo" with the Steep Canyon Rangers at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre (805 Hennepin Avenue, Mpls., 55402). Tickets go on sale Friday, March 12 at noon and range from $35 to $65 depending on seating preference.
