Written and originally directed by Roberto Athayde, it has been almost 30 years since The Shakespeare Festival's Joe Papp opened this play on Broadway.  It shuttered after 98 performances.  The show starred Estelle Parsons and this writer saw that excellent production and got to appear briefly on stage with Ms. Parsons at the beginning of the second act.

Audiences and critics in 50 countries have cheered this comic allegory about totalitarianism, which uses a Biology classroom as its central metaphor. The teacher is dictator and the audience is the student body.

"Mordant, funny, sometimes subtle and ultimately moving!" - NY
Times

"Tour de force! Part tirade, part political allegory, part
expressionist
vaudeville show!" – NY Daily News
