Calling all currently enrolled high school & recent high school graduates of the 2011-2012 school year who enjoy musical theatre. The King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse are proud to present the first annual Summer Musical Theatre Project June 18 – July 15th. This is your chance to bring your appetite and desire to participate in a program that will develop your musical theatre arts and new skills learned from this collaborative project. 

Through special arrangements with R & H Theatricals, N.Y, N.Y.and under the direction of Anastacia Hawkins-Smith, this four week project will focus on skills such as auditioning, acting and stage experience, casting, dance, narration, orchestra and behind the scene support roles.  The project also includes chat backs with industry guests and educational studies on Rodgers & Hammerstein and the birth of musical theatre.

Classes and rehearsals will be held daily Mon-Fri., 1-5 pm from June 18th – July 15th. The project culminates with three performances of OKLAHOMA! on the King Center stage July 13, 14 & 15. No classes or rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday, July 4th

Auditions will be held Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the King Center for the Performing Arts.  Applicants will be notified of their audition time. Call backs will be held April 22, 2012 at the King Center. If selected into the project, it is the responsibility of the participant to be at all rehearsals, classes and performances.

Project tuition is $300. Tuition discount for multiple students within the same household may be available. Scholarships may be available based on financial need. Application fee (required for audition): $25 if paid in Jan-Feb; $35 if paid in March. The application fee is non-refundable and will be applied to tuition for selected applicants. Application fee is due no later than April 2, 2012.
