Delray Beach Playhouse Debuts New Cabaret Series

The historic Delray Beach Playhouse opens its 71st season this October and will debut a brand-new Cabaret Series featuring some of South Florida's top singing acts. The shows will take place in the theater's intimate, 128-seat performance space with special cabaret style seating.

Avery Sommers - FOR SENTIMENTAL REASONS

January 5-6, 2018 @ 8:00 P.M.

Avery Sommers has created a brand-new show, "For Sentimental Reasons", which features 25 of her favorite songs and sentimental hits, such as "Can't Buy Me Love," "Gentle On My Mind," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "Proud Mary," "Breaking Up is Hard To Do," "I Will Survive," and many more!

A well-known artist in South Florida for many years, Avery has starred on Broadway in "AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'" and "SHOWBOAT IN TEXAS" (Jewel with Ann-Margaret), and "CHICAGO" (Matron Mama Morton with Chita Rivera and Joel Grey). She also created the recurring role of REGINA DANSBY on the CBS soap "AS THE WORLD TURNS," as well as the recurring role of EVELYN on the ABC Mystery Movie Series, "B.L. STRYKER" starring Burt Reynolds and Ossie Davies. She also co-starred with Burt Reynolds and Reba McIntyre in the CBS Movie of the Week, "THE MAN FROM LEFT FIELD."

Recently, she was nominated for another CARBONELL AWARD for her portrayal of Bessie Smith in the production of "The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith."

Shelley Keelor is an international entertainer, actress, and singer having soloed in over a dozen countries.

Recently, Shelley Keelor performed her hit show, "Sentimental Journey," to sold out audiences in Palm Beach. "Sentimental Journey - Songs of WWII" features some of the best music from the WWII era including "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree," "You'll Never Know," "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "Every Time We Say Goodbye," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "I'll Be Seeing You," and more.

Her recent theatrical credits include the Beggar Woman in "Sweeney Todd" at Palm Beach Dramaworks and "Beehive," the 60's Musical at The Wick Theatre, both which received rave reviews. Other recent credits include: "The World Goes 'Round," Carbonell Award Winner for Best Ensemble, and "Side By Side By Sondheim," nominated for a Carbonell Award.
