The Theatre @ Boston Court announces the annual New Play Festival to be presented on two Saturdays, November 5th and 12th at Boston Court Performing Arts Center in Pasadena, CA.

The Theatre @ Boston Court's new play festival presents plays that are in keeping with Boston Court's mission, which urges artists to fearlessly and passionately pursue their unique voice and vision. Play selection encompasses a wide variety of genres, with a special emphasis on works, which are inherently theatrical, textually rich, and visually arresting.

This year's festival includes Roadkill Giant by Aleshea Harris, The Wind and the Breeze by Nathan Alan Davis, Passing by Dipika Guha, Daughters of the Moon by Reginald Edmund, and Lottie in the Late Afternoon by Amelia Roper.

Saturday, November 5th

11:00 p.m. - Roadkill Giant by Aleshea Harris

Director: Marina McClure

Roadkill Giant is a darkly comedic circus-play that explores themes of loneliness, trauma, and transformation. Each of the characters struggles with being a "freak" in his or her own way: Girl's body and memory have been shattered by a devastating accident; Duke is a friendless dropout who dissects roadkill animals; Mother is so distraught that she seeks a relationship with a circus bear; and Bark desires human connection despite his past, which plays out perversely in front of a live audience.

2:00 p.m. - The Wind and the Breeze by Nathan Alan Davis

Director: Rob Lutfy

Sam, the legendary, undisputed, greatest emcee in Rockford, IL, plans to rest on his laurels all winter and, if possible, stake out an early spot to watch the Independence Day fireworks -but his closest mentees and their outsized dreams challenge him to a battle he can't win. The Wind and the Breeze explores the politics of place, the unspoken expectations of friendship and what happens when we choose to stand our ground on shifting sands.

Saturday, November 12th

11:00 a.m. - Passing by Dipika Guha

Director: Jessica Kubzansky

On an imagined island, ill-matched, British expats Clara and Sidney live isolated from the indiginous population. That is, until a young girl, bloody and brutalised appears on their property. PASSING is a poetic and impressionistic confrontation with the history of colonialism, chronicling a history that resists erasure.

2:00 p.m. - Daughters of the Moon by Reginald Edmund

Director: TBD

Daughters of the Moon follows a runaway slave girl and a former plantation mistress wanted for murder as they embark on a perilous journey North towards freedom, guided by an Ancient African Goddess.

5:00 p.m. - Lottie in the Late Afternoon by Amelia Roper

Director: Emilie Beck

Lottie is trying to be a good person. Lottie is trying to be a good friend. She is trying to cook good food, trying to buy nice gifts, trying to enjoy the seaside, because everybody loves vacations, and everybody loves Lottie, don't they?
